Melvin Williams Obituary

Melvin J. Williams

Sunrise:  April 23, 1945                                                                                  Sunset:  February 13, 2021

Melvin J. Williams was the youngest son of the late Robert A and Susie Lee (Tate) Williams of Wadesboro, NC.  Melvin attended public school in Anson County, North Carolina.  As a teenager, Melvin moved to Delaware County, PA. with his oldest sister, Mary Black where he worked for Macke Vending Building Services, and eventually retired from Jenkintown Building Services in 2007.

Melvin was united in marriage to Estelle Sherrod in June 1985 and from this union they have one daughter, Monica.  He has two sons, Wade and Melvin and two stepsons, Irving and Darnell.

Melvin was a strong, hardworking and industrious man who loved his family deeply. He was a kind and considerate man who was funny and fun loving. Melvin was a caring and protective husband and father who enjoyed traveling until his health began to fail.  He liked a good cup of coffee, shooting pool, watching sports (especially wrestling) and listening to “the oldies” music.

Preceding him in death were his grandson, Melvin Harris, Jr., his siblings, Sylvester Williams, Mary Black, Dolly Rivers, and Effie Nell Williams.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, his sons, his daughter, two stepsons, nine  grandchildren five great grandchildren; two sisters, Pearline and Leona Williams; two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, several close friends, and one very special nurse.
