Clinton McFarlane Obituary

Obituary

Clinton Arthur McFarlane (affectionately known as Arthur) was born to Margaret and Sydney McFarlane on February 23, 1937 in Kingston, Jamaica. He was the oldest of five siblings.

As a child, Clinton attended a vocational school in Kingston known as The Boys’ Town Institution. He later worked in the district Newport West, where he was the Foreman and controlled the docks. Some of Clinton’s favorite activities in Jamaica included swimming and diving, and as an adult, he grew a passion for drawing, painting, and cooking.

Clinton met Marlene Joy Parris in the 60s, and they were married in Kingston on May 6, 1970. They immigrated to the United States in the early 70s, settling in Philadelphia, where together they raised Marlene’s two daughters: Paulette Sutherland and the late Heather Bryant (nee Lew), and Clinton’s two children once they immigrated to the United States: Maurine McFarlane and the late Steve McFarlane. Over the years, Clinton and Marlene often visited Atlantic City and enjoyed vacationing at the beach with their grandchildren. They were married for 36 loving years before Marlene’s passing in 2006.

For 25 years, Clinton worked as a Machinist at Standard Press Steel (SPS) Technologies, where he was responsible for making bolts, screws, and other sensitive materials for space shuttles. He retired in 2000.

Throughout Clinton’s life, he was a believer in Jesus Christ. Clinton departed this earth to be with the Lord on February 10, 2021 at the age of 83.
