Anthony Mark McKinley
December 22, 1950 – April 7, 2026
Anthony “Tony” McKinley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Roosevelt and Wilhelmina McKinley. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System, graduating from John Bartram High School in 1968. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1972, including a tour in Vietnam, where he attained the rank of Sergeant.
Tony became a well-known presence on 52nd Street as the “incense man,” building lasting relationships within a vibrant vendor community. He later worked in home improvement and contracting, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. In his later years, he devoted himself to caring for his mother with love and dedication.
Tony found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially Motown and the sounds of Carlos Santana, and enjoyed reading, spending time with friends, and preparing food to share with family and neighbors. He also gave back through community service and mentorship.
He leaves to cherish his memory is siblings, extended family, and many dear friends.
