The Reverend Yvonne Elizabeth Perry, affectionately known as ""Big Mom" and later in life as " Little Lady," returned to her heavenly Father on April 1, 2025, at the beautiful age of 87. Reverend Yvonne Elizabeth Perry, born on July 5, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Irvin and Dorothy Miller and immediately brought joy into the world. She received her primary and secondary education in the Philadelphia Public School System. After high school, Rev. Perry attended the Community College of Philadelphia and Philadelphia College of Bible. Rev. Perry met and married her first love, Roscoe Perry Jr., on March 21, 1959, and together they had two handsome sons, Robert C. Perry and Russell R. Perry, and one beautiful daughter, Glenora Walker. Rev. Perry was employed with the City of Philadelphia as a Clerk-Typist, The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard as a Clerk Typist and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for Youth and Family Services. Rev. Perry received the "call" to ministry on July 26, 1981. In May of 1984, she was ordained a Local Deacon by The Rt. Rev. Richard Allen Hildebrand and in May, of 1987, after completing her studies in the A.M.E. Ministerial Institute she was ordained a Local Elder by The Rt. Rev. Frank C. Cummings. Rev. Perry believed her ministry was to serve the Local Church, not only in the perfecting of the people of God, but in assisting the Pastor in his/her administrative duties. She served as Church Secretary, served on the Trustee Board, Steward Board, Missionary Society, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Director of Christian Education, Women's Day Chairlady, Class Leader, and member of several choirs - the Gospel Chorus, Senior Choir and Mass Choir. Her caring spirit and generous heart could be felt by anyone she encountered. Rev. Perry had a special gift of not only seeing the good in people but bringing out the best in them as well. Her love, light, and precious memories will be carried on by her children: Glenora Walker (Jimmie) Georgia, Robert C. Perry (Vanessa) New Jersey, and Russell R. Perry (Regina) Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Donald Thomas Jr., Tanesha Williams, Raymond Russell, Branden Russell, Isaiah Bennett, Charlotte Perry, Kevin Simons, Rev. Kamellah "Pearl" Marsh (Leslie Marsh Jr.) and Robert Azubuike; great-grandchildren: Deshante Seabrook, Analia Rose Perry, Syaire Williams, Les Marsh III, Brianna Simons, Naja Jackson, Ciani Marsh, Symone Marsh, Nahla Simons, Destiny Garlic, Madyson Ochanas, Gemini Ochanas; great great-grandchildren: Braden Marsh, Logan Marsh, Hassan Ochanas, Wyatt Jackson, Klyer Jackson and Kayden Jackson. Rev. Perry is survived by her sisters: Mrytle Graham, Hershell Smith, and Gertrude Wray and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. Preceded in death by: Parents- Irvin Sr. and Dorothy Miller, Husband- Roscoe Perry Jr., Brothers Irvin Miller Jr., Robert Miller, Gilbert Miller; Brother-in-laws William Smith Jr., and Horace Fisher; Sister- Minerva Fisher, Sister-in-laws: Cornelia Miller, Freda Miller, Margaret Miller, and granddaughter-Samia Ellis. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, her gentle spirit, and the countless lives she touched throughout her remarkable 87 years
