In Loving Memory of Harold Ivery Jr. “Butterball”

Some people are remembered for what they accomplished. Others are remembered for how they made people feel. Harold Ivery Jr. will forever be remembered for both." 

With profound sadness, yet immense gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Harold Ivery Jr., affectionately known to us as "Butterball”. He was a devoted husband, supportive brother, loving father, respected businessman, dedicated coach, loyal friend, and a man whose quiet strength and generous heart left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Born and raised in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, Harold's life was rooted in family, community, and hard work. From an early age, he discovered a passion for sports. From playing every sport offered with Lansdowne Boys Club, to playing basketball at the Center, he developed a love for all sports but especially became fond of soccer. Butter forged lifelong friendships and developed the discipline, perseverance, and leadership that would define his life. His love for sports became one of his greatest joys. Harolds soccer journey continued through Penn Wood High School, where his talent and dedication earned him the opportunity to play collegiately at La Salle University. He later fulfilled another dream by competing as a member of the United German Hungarians of Philadelphia semi pro soccer team that won the 1999 USA Open Cup National Championship. To him sports were never just games, they were lessons in teamwork, resilience, commitment, and character, values he carried with him throughout every chapter of his life. Those same values became the foundation of his professional career. As the proud owner and President of Harold's Used Auto Parts, Inc. & Third Auto Sales, Inc., Harold carried on the legacy of a second-generation family business with unwavering integrity. Customers knew they could rely on him not only for his knowledge and expertise but for his honesty, fairness, and willingness to help. He built relationships that lasted decades because he believed people always came before profit. Many thought of Harold as their mechanic, but Butter was so much more. Yet of all the roles he embraced throughout his life, none brought him greater pride than being a husband and father. On June 22, 2002, Harold married the love of his life, Wadiya, beginning a partnership built on faith, unconditional love, laughter, and unwavering support. They were introduced as the “New Iverys” and together they created a home in Aldan, Pennsylvania, where family always came first. He poured everything he had into raising his two sons, Harold III and Hunter, making sure they never questioned how deeply they were loved. Whether celebrating victories, navigating challenges, attending games, or simply spending time together, he believed that the greatest gift he could give his family was his presence. Among the family's favorite traditions were their road trips to Garden City, SC, where laughter filled the house and unforgettable memories were made including late-night fishing on the backyard dock. Those vacations reflected exactly who Butter was a man who treasured togetherness more than anything money could buy. Butter's love extended far beyond his own household. Believing that every child deserved encouragement and someone who believed in them, he dedicated countless hours to coaching soccer, basketball, and baseball through the Aldan Boys Club. He proudly coached Hunter's soccer teams and later coached baseball alongside Harold III through Drexel Hill Little League. To many young athletes, Coach Harold became much more than a coach. He became a mentor, role model, teacher, and friend. His greatest victories were never measured on scoreboards but in the confidence, discipline, and character he helped build in others. But he did like to win, Butter definitely was competitive. When he wasn't working or coaching, Butter found peace in the outdoors. He spent many boat trips fishing alongside his father, Harold Ivery Sr., and lifelong friends, sharing stories that became family legends. He continued with his annual deer hunting trips to Mansfield, Pennsylvania, where time slowed down and lifelong friendships grew even stronger. The NewIverys famous Fourth of July cookouts were always more than just family gatherings. Friends and family looked forward to his legendary ribs, spectacular fireworks displays, endless laughter, a little dancing, and the welcoming atmosphere he created. What people will remember most was his infectious sense of humor. He loved making people laugh. His smile could brighten the darkest day, and his quick wit, playful jokes, and unforgettable stories had a way of bringing people together. He reminded everyone around him not to take life too seriously and to find joy in the moments shared with the people you love. Butter was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ellen F. Ivery and Harold Ivery Sr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 24 years, Wadiya Ivery; his beloved sons, Harold Ivery III and Hunter Ivery; his loving sister, Lisa Marie Ivery; along with many cherished relatives, lifelong friends, employees, customers, former players, neighbors, and all whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.
