Obituary

Cindy Martins Hymon was born on October 23, 1965, at Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Benjamin A. Martins l and Nettie Martins. She was raised in South Philadelphia, where she attended the Philadelphia School District and graduated from West Philadelphia High School with the Class of 1983. As the youngest of four siblings, Cindy was deeply loved by her family and shared an especially close bond with her sister, Wendy. Surrounded by love and support throughout her life, Cindy brought joy and laughter wherever she went.

Cindy dedicated more than ten years of service to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout her life, she worked various jobs with pride and compassion, but the role she treasured most was caring for her beloved 96 year old mother. She gave selflessly, always putting the needs of those she loved before her own.

In the winter of 1983, Cindy met the love of her life, Daryl “Naeem” Hymon. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with three sons, Kareem, Khalief, and Malik, who were the center of her world. Their love story came full circle when they were united in marriage on March 27, 2021. Cindy was the heart of her family their protector, encourager, and biggest supporter. Her sons were her greatest pride, and they remained her strength until God called her home.

Anyone who knew Cindy knew she had a heart of gold. She loved fiercely, laughed often, and never hesitated to speak her mind. She enjoyed spending time with family especially her sister Wendy who she had a special bond with. Cindy enjoyed friends, sharing meals, and making memories. Cindy especially loved fine dining and always looked forward to enjoying her brother-in-law’s (Isaac) famous seafood salad. As the baby of the family, she was lovingly spoiled by her mother, a role she proudly embraced with a smile.

Cindy was preceded in death by her beloved father, Benjamin A. Martins l (September 19, 1932 – October 9, 2004); her cherished grandson, Jaylen Martins (November 23, 2008 – December 4, 2008); and her brother-in-law, George Hymon (August 25, 1954 – January 30, 1989).

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted mother, Nettie Martins; her loving husband, Daryl “Naeem” Hymon; her siblings Wanda (Isaac I), Benjamin, and Wendy (Eric); and her brothers-in-law Barry and Troy.

Her legacy lives on through her beloved children: Kareem, Khalief, and Malik, along with her stepsons Naeem and Tiran, and her stepdaughter Dayona

She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Khalia, Jonathan, Kareem Jr., Taryn, Kamryn, Kashae, Kayden,, Khalah, Khalief, King, Bella Quran, Janiyah, Renae, Mariyah, Abdullah, Naeemah, Ayesha, Nuaym, Abdul Hakeem, Abdul Illah, Abdul Fattah, and Abdul Waduud

She also has a special bond with her nephews Benjamin lII, Dante, Channon, Torrance (Lisa), Isaac III, and Corey, her only niece Trina who will miss her

Also a host of cousins, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and lifelong friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Though Cindy has departed this earthly life, the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone blessed to know her.
